Zhang Jia Jie is one of the most incredible landscapes on the planet. It’s a must see, bucket list – trending on instagram destination – up there with the Great Wall of China as one of China’s most iconic landscapes!
James Cameron’s film Avatar was shot there.
Hunnan is middle China. The folk are known to be tough. Their food is fiery, and not dissimilar to neighbouring Sichuan. It’s a province that has always been a little hard to get to – bypassed by tourists which makes it extra attractive for us.
Its another unique journey that makes more sense to do as a group – particularly the cycling.
Thanks to Zhang Jia Jie, tourism is on the rise. Zhang Jia Jie is is now an international airport with connecting flights from all major Chinese cities and a direct flights from Bangkok and a few other neighbouring countries.
If coming by train – the closest high speed station is Changsha (3.5 hours from HKG and 5 from Shanghai) from where you can connect to the old slow train, which then takes another 5 hours).
